The Parent Guide is designed to provide information about Phoenix Outdoor to help parents feel informed and confident about wilderness therapy and the overall program. Each parent receives this booklet during the admissions process so that they can make a more informed decision about sending their student to Phoenix.
This easy-to-use booklet provides insight into the Phoenix Outdoor therapeutic approach as well as information on the entire wilderness experience. The Guide begins with how students typically react to being placed at Phoenix Outdoor, gives guidance on how to transport students to the program, and details what you can expect during the intake process. The Guide then addresses the emotions you can expect to experience as a parent during this time and how to work through those emotions.
The Parent Guide details what the student will wear and eat, how they sleep each night and who is supervising the student while he or she is at Phoenix. The Guide reviews the program's safety protocol and how students are managed in the wilderness as well as at the base camp facility.
