Phoenix Outdoor Program
Phoenix Outdoor utilizes a unique wilderness therapy model that combines wilderness expeditions with experiences at base camp.
Our Mission
In our years of experience working with teens who are struggling with substance abuse, we have noticed a pattern: young men and women becoming increasingly isolated from friends and family, associating with a different crowd, and eventually experimenting with drugs and alcohol. Drug and alcohol use frequently leads to more dangerous behaviors and before parents realize it, their son or daughter has reached a crisis point.
Although individual therapy and traditional substance abuse programs fill an important need, we have found that these programs often fail to meet the unique needs of the adolescent who is falling deeper into self-destructive patterns. Wilderness therapy, by contrast, has proven highly effective in helping troubled teens realize the extent of their substance abuse problem and committing to the process of change.
Because Phoenix Outdoor specializes in treating adolescents with significant substance abuse and chemical dependency issues, we are able to provide teens with the structure and support they need to accept responsibility for their behavior. Using a 12-Step based program that combines addictions counseling, education, and a wilderness therapy field curriculum, our addiction experts have helped hundreds of teens develop a strategy to stay substance-free.
